Four young inventors were selected to represent Iowa at Invention Convention Worldwide U.S. Nationals, held at The Henry Ford Museum for American Innovation in Dearborn, MI June 4-6, 2025.

Students selected had participated in Iowa Invention Convention programming throughout the 2024-25 school year. They were part of a group of 29 Iowa youth who attended the Iowa Invention Convention statewide showcase and competition on April 5, 2025, on campus in Iowa City. 

  • August "Gus", a grade 5 student at Tital Hills Intermediate School in Council Bluffs, was part of an invention team creating "The Nail Picker Upper", a remote control car that picks up nails from a jobsite.
  • Charles, a grade 6 student at Fox Valley Academy in Ottumwa, invented "The Fire C.A.V.E.S System (Communication and Vitals Enhancement for SCBA), a device that firefighters can insert into their SCBA masks allowing them to view vital statistics, communicate with each other, and view thermal camera images while wearing their SCBA masks.
  • Oliver, a grade 2 student at Summit Schools in Cedar Rapids, invented "Recessed Rescuer", a seatbelt positioner designed to allow kids to buckle their own booster seats when the booster sits on top of a recessed seatbelt.
  • Taylin, a grade 4 student from Treynor Elementary School in Treynor, invented "The Sandwich Filler" which is a two part syringe that you can use to spread things like peanut butter and jelly on bread.
