Twenty-nine young inventors from communities across Iowa showcased their inventions on campus at the University of Iowa on Saturday, April 5, 2025. A total of 25 inventions were presented to judges who listened and gave feedback. At the end of the day, 14 students were recognized as state qualifiers.

Inventors ranged from grade 1 to 11.

Gus and Jeremy, a team of two grade 5 students from Titan Hill Intermediate School in Council Bluffs invented the "Nail Picker Upper", a remote control car that picks up nails from a jobsite.

Taylin, a grade 4 student from Treynor Elementary School, invented "The Sandwich Filler", a two-part syringe that can be used to spread things like peanut butter and jelly on bread.

A grade 11 competitor, Amal, showcased "Hula", a biometric device designed to help displaced people reintegrate into society.

Select students attending the Iowa Invention Convention statewide showcase will advance and compete at U.S. Nationals held at The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan, in early June.
