SUMMER FUN

Students who enter grade 5-9 in the fall are invited to join entrepreneurship camp to: 

  • Work in teams.
  • Interact with local entrepreneurs.
  • Develop their own innovative product.
  • Determine their target market and pricing.
  • Learn how to give an elevator pitch.
  • Sell their product at the local farmers market.

Camp registration opens Feb. 1 each year. Registration link will become active here at that time and will remain open until the final deadline or the camp fills. Camp grade levels are based on the grade your camper will enter in the fall.

    IOWA CITY 5 - 6 AND 7 - 9 CAMPS ARE FULL
    • Wait list: You are able to select the Iowa City 5 - 6 grade camp OR Iowa City 7 - 9 grade camp when you REGISTER NOW to be added to the wait list. In the case of a cancellation, students from the wait list (first come, first served) will be contacted to collect payment and attend. In the event students do not cancel, wait list students will receive first priority for the summer 2020 camp.
    • Additional option: As a reminder, the Marion 5 - 8 grade camp will be running the same week as the Iowa City 5 - 6 grade camp. If you would like your camper to have a secured spot in the summer 2019 camp, please consider selecting the Marion 5 - 8 grade option when you REGISTER NOW and have your camper still attend camp this summer.

    CAMP DETAILS

    COST: Pay in full pricing: $200 per camper Feb. 1 - Mar. 22. Regular pricing: $250 per camper March 23 - May 24. Partial and full scholarships are available for families in need of financial assistance. 

    WHERE: Camps held in the Iowa City and Marion areas.

    HOURS: Camp runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Extended hours are offered for an additional $50 at Iowa City camps only. Extended hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday. On market day, campers will reconvene in the evening and staff their booths at the farmers market. 

    MEALS: Campers bring their own lunch, except for a pizza party near the end of the week.

    EDUCATIONAL, TOO

    Don't tell the kids, but entrepreneur camp is a valuable learning experience brought to you by the expertise of the University of Iowa in entrepreneurship. Experienced, licensed Iowa educators and University of Iowa students studying education are the summer camp instructor and counselors.
