PREPARE STUDENTS FOR THE FUTURE
Be better equipped to get your students college and career ready. Take a deep dive into the BizInnovator curriculum and modern methodologies, like Design Thinking and Lean Startup, with BizInnovator professional development. Although the curriculum toolkit can be licensed without taking the online certification course, we recommend the course for its supplemental knowledge and resources. The course helps teachers fully leverage the toolkit and enhance entrepreneurship education. Plus, educators who successfully complete BizInnovator professional development are certified to offer high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit.
COURSE DETAILS
REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed educator: Priority is given to licensed high school business or marketing teachers
- Cost: $299
- Course materials: The BizInnovator curriculum toolkit (Sign up and purchase the toolkit for an additional $99 if you do not already have it)
- Video conferencing: Zoom software (free)
BENEFITS:
- No travel expenses: The course is 10 two-hour sessions held entirely online.
- Graduate credits: Choose to earn up to two graduate credit hours from the University of Iowa. Cost is an additional $149 for one credit, $279 for two credits.
- Certification: Upon completion, you will be certified to offer Entrepreneurship to high school juniors and seniors for three transferable University of Iowa credits. (Note: This is not a dual enrollment program.)
COURSE SCHEDULE
BizInnovator professonal development is held online three times per year. As a reminder, you must have an active BizInnovator license or sign up and purchase it for an additional $99 if you do not already have one.
Summer 2023
Online - BizInnovator Startup Certification Program
- Dates: Tuesday, June 13, through Tuesday, July 25, 2023
- Time: Ten sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 p.m. Central Time (June 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29, July 11, 13, 18, 25)
Onsite at Startup Weekend Iowa City
- Dates: July 14-16, 2023
- Offered in partnership with Iowa EdTech Collaborative, Iowa City Area Development, and Techstars Iowa in Iowa City
- Great as a stand alone or paired with online PD above
- Must complete online program in order to offer college credit to high school students
- Learn to think, work, and build like a startup in 54 hours
- Cost is $25! 1 optional grad credit available for $149.
